With a layover weekend in Ireland ahead, my colleague, Gary, asked if I wanted to go for a hike along the coast on Saturday. Always eager for a chance to get out of the city and see the countryside, I gratefully accepted. We drove a short way south out of Dublin to County Wicklow and parked in the quaint and picturesque seaside village of Bray.

Bukhit Timah Hill, at 164 meters above sea level, is the highest place in Singapore. Not exactly a location given to expansive vistas, for all the interesting aspects of the city-state. But high atop the Marina Bay Sands hotel, 57 stories above the waters of the Bay opposite the Central Business District, the observation deck provides what nature has not.

The change of seasons always call a photographer to capture the moments in between the expected. I knew the other evening that it may well have been my last opportunity to walk on to the frozen surface of Centerville Lake for this winter (sic) season. And so on an unexpectedly warm Sunday evening, capping an unexpectedly warm weekend in an unexpectedly warm beginning to March, I walked down at sunset to the lake to see what light I could find.
